JOHNSON CITY, NY – There was also music in Johnson City this afternoon as Rick Pedro’s Piano Man entertained the crowd at the Schorr Family Firehouse Stage.
Drawing from the Great American Songbook, Pedro has the audience cheering and laughing at the Firehouse Stage’s outdoor tent as he performs technical variations of everything from Camptown Races to Lynyrd Skynyrd and the Blues Brothers.
Many of his songs, as he puts it, are his own reimaginings of other groups’ classic reimaginings.
Pedro said it was good to get back to normal, to be able to go out and play in front of a crowd.
“It’s always a pleasure to come back to the Firehouse here, especially with the resumption of the year, restarting the art is a fantastic setting and they treat the artists wonderfully, and it’s always a pleasure to be here,” said Pedro.
The Goodwill Theater’s ReSTART art event in an outdoor tent will continue through August with comedy and music events.
Pedro’s next show is at Highland Park on August 10 with Jeff Lake as part of the Endwell League Community Action Concert in the Park.
